An accident can raise liability questions and repair costs. If your car is off the road, getting to work and managing everyday life become harder. Compulsory liability insurance and cover for your own vehicle serve different purposes; leasing requirements and agreed deductibles may also matter.
You know which damage the contract covers, what you would pay yourself and how support is organised after a claim. Assistance, replacement transport and casco cover can then be chosen around what you actually need. That gives you direction before you have to rely on it.
At Andrade Finance, we start with your car, annual mileage and regular drivers. We review existing contracts, explain the differences between liability and casco insurance and discuss relevant additional cover. Your decision is grounded in everyday use.
To register a car in Switzerland, you need motor liability insurance and the corresponding insurance certificate. This covers insured liability towards third parties. Damage to your own car belongs under own vehicle cover.
Partial comprehensive cover, or Teilkasko, insures agreed events such as theft, hail or glass damage. Fully comprehensive cover, or Vollkasko, normally adds collision damage to your own vehicle. The insured events and limits appear in the policy. This cover is voluntary under the law; a leasing contract can require Vollkasko.
Whether full cover makes sense depends on more than the car's age. Ask yourself: could I fund a major repair or replacement? What is the vehicle's current value? What requirements appear in my leasing agreement?
Compare deductibles for each type of claim, total loss compensation and repair rules. Also check which drivers, uses and countries are included. Report changes in use as required by the contract. A low premium is of limited use if the agreed vehicle use does not match your everyday life.
Roadside assistance and replacement cars deserve separate checks: which events trigger help, where does it apply and how long is a replacement car paid for? Review benefits already provided by a motoring club or other contracts before choosing additional cover.
Gross negligence cover is not unlimited. Example: AXA's motor conditions dated 10.2025 exclude, under that extension, driving while intoxicated or unfit to drive and particularly serious speeding, among other cases. Other contracts can differ; your own policy conditions determine the cover.
Record the vehicle's value, ownership or leasing, annual mileage, regular drivers and frequent destinations. Set out the deductible you could pay at short notice and how urgently you would need another car after a claim.
Gather the policy, current premium invoice, leasing agreement and existing assistance benefits. Mark open questions about parking damage, glass, total loss, gross negligence and replacement transport. This overview gives the advisory conversation a clear starting point and shows which benefits are your priorities.
Start with the protection you want, then compare suitable quotations using the same information. Ask about the premium, deductible, exclusions, contract duration and cancellation deadline. Request an explanation of the recommended cover and of the financial losses you would choose to fund yourself.
Untied intermediaries must disclose compensation. See the initial information provided under Article 45 of the Swiss Insurance Supervision Act, VAG.
That depends on the vehicle's value, repair costs, financial reserves and any leasing requirements. Consider whether you could fund damage you cause yourself or pay for a replacement.
Do not rely solely on the comprehensive label. Check which parking damage is insured, whether an extension is needed and which deductibles or limits apply.
Check the contract and any applicable grounds for cancellation. Coordinate cancellation, the new start date and insurance certificate so the required liability cover is in place when changing cars or insurers.
