A medical examination, regular medication or a hospital stay can raise questions: where can I get treatment? What does insurance pay? What do I pay myself? Basic insurance is compulsory, but the deductible and model affect your costs and your route to treatment.
Imagine knowing whom to contact first, how much money to keep in reserve and how to assess your monthly premium. That understanding is worth more than a low premium alone. It helps you choose a solution you can use in everyday life.
At Andrade Finance, we discuss your priorities and the rules of suitable models. We review basic and supplementary insurance separately, explain the differences and prepare the next steps with you. Your decision can consider costs and access to care together.
Every basic insurer covers the same benefits required by law. Differences include premiums, insurance models and administration. A lower premium is a useful starting point for a comparison; the rules for accessing treatment belong in that comparison too.
Supplementary insurance is optional and has a separate contract. Basic and supplementary cover can be held with different insurers. Before you change anything, we identify what you already have and which benefits you actually want to use.
Adults can choose deductibles from CHF 300 to CHF 2,500. A higher deductible lowers the premium but increases the amount you initially pay for treatment. Consider your annual premium, expected medical expenses and the reserve you have available.
Compare a year with little treatment and a year with higher expenses. The usual co-payment is 10% after the deductible, capped at CHF 700 a year for adults. A hospital contribution may also apply. There are exceptions, including higher co-payments for certain medicines.
Family doctor, HMO and telephone or digital advice models can offer lower premiums. They specify whom you should contact first. Check whether your preferred practice is included, how referrals work and which exceptions apply.
A model works for you when its rules fit your everyday life. We discuss those rules using the contract documents and include any unanswered questions in the comparison.
Supplementary insurers may assess health information, impose exclusions or refuse an application. Review the benefits, limits, waiting periods and recognised treatment providers in the proposed contract.
Cancel existing supplementary insurance only after the new insurer has accepted your desired cover in writing and you understand its conditions. Changing basic insurance alone does not require cancellation of supplementary cover. Check the latter's cancellation dates separately.
For a basic insurance change on 1 January, the existing insurer generally must receive your cancellation by 30 November, provided it notified you of the approved new premium by 31 October. Receipt matters, rather than the postmark. Send the notice early and keep proof of delivery.
A lower deductible for the following year must be requested in writing by 30 November; a higher one by 31 December. Apply to the new basic insurer at the same time. Debts for which reminders have been issued can prevent a change, so resolve these in good time.
Bring your policy, the new premium notice and your main priorities. Your address, household members, current model and budget are enough for an initial discussion. Detailed health information should not go into a general contact request.
Together, we organise your priorities, compare suitable options and discuss the next steps. You have a clear basis for your decision and can resolve questions before submitting an application.
No. They are separate contracts. However, check whether changing basic insurer affects existing package discounts.
It depends on your expenses. Compare actual annual premiums, different treatment scenarios and your available reserve.
The comparison shows gross premiums. Changes to your subsidy depend on your canton and personal circumstances. We review the actual net cost together.
The deductible comparison is a simplified guide for adults with basic insurance. Supplementary benefits are assessed separately.
