A workplace conflict, disputed rental charges or a traffic accident can take time and money. Depending on the contract, legal protection can provide support and cover certain legal costs. Existing disputes, waiting periods and uninsured areas need particular attention.
You want to know whom to contact first, which documents matter and what support your contract provides. A clear overview helps you establish the next steps promptly. You keep your goals in sight, without having to understand the policy for the first time in the middle of a dispute.
Andrade Finance discusses work, housing, mobility and other relevant areas with you. Using the policy conditions, we clarify insured people, scope, limits and claim notification. We help select insurance protection; legal representation for a specific dispute belongs to the appropriate legal professionals.
List relevant areas: employment, renting, consumer contracts, health, road traffic or home ownership. Products cover selected legal areas and risks. The private legal protection label alone does not confirm that your particular issue is included.
For each important topic, check whether brief legal information, support outside court and the funding of proceedings are provided. Advice in an excluded legal area is not automatically a commitment to pay lawyer fees or court costs.
The insured people matter too. Review individual or household cover, partners, children in education and people living elsewhere. If you are self employed, have a secondary business or rent out property, ask explicitly whether you are covered and in which capacity.
The triggering event can matter more than the date of a lawyer's letter. A new contract generally does not cover an existing conflict retrospectively. Describe known problems fully and first review the cover you already had.
Waiting periods vary by product and legal area. Contract examples: AXA describes cover without a waiting period when both the event and need for legal support arise after conclusion; JUSTIS's 2026 conditions generally specify 90 days, with exceptions. These examples do not establish a universal waiting period for every insurer.
Keep contracts, messages and decisions in order. For an actual case, record documents received, service dates and deadlines, then report the case as required by your conditions. A coverage review does not automatically suspend an administrative or court deadline.
Compare the insured amount, deductible, geographical scope and lower limits for specific legal areas. Ask whether the limit applies per event or insurance year and how related disputes are treated. A large advertised amount does not explain these details.
Free choice of lawyer does not mean that every lawyer you appoint yourself will be paid. CAP, for example, refers to conflicts of interest or proceedings requiring external representation. Clarify your right to choose and the approval of costs before appointing a lawyer for paid work.
Also ask how disagreements about the handling of a case are resolved. Legal protection can provide agreed support and meet covered costs, but it cannot guarantee success in a dispute. Discuss the exclusions relevant to your work, home or family.
Record relevant areas and people, existing policies, start dates, waiting periods and known conflicts. Add cost limits, deductibles, countries and reporting contacts. Update this overview when your circumstances change.

Untied intermediaries must disclose compensation. See the initial information provided under Article 45 of the Swiss Insurance Supervision Act, VAG.
Generally it will not cover it retrospectively. The contract's definition of the triggering event matters. Review an existing policy and obtain qualified help in time to meet any current deadlines.
That depends on the chosen cover and definition of insured people. Check partners, adult children and people who do not permanently live in the same household in particular.
Rights of choice apply in certain situations; their scope and procedure need checking. Before appointing a lawyer, confirm with the legal protection insurer that the appointment and expected costs are covered.
